PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measurement method which is simple, and for accurately measuring the values of measurement items of carbonate series, in a solution as at least one or more of the total carbon concentration, the total alkali level, a hydrogen ion concentration index and a carbon dioxide pressure, and a measurement apparatus using it. SOLUTION: The measurement method includes a first process for dropping an acid to a subject liquid as a sample solution containing at least one type or more of a pH indicators, and measuring the absorbance of the subject liquid at a predetermined wavelength; a second process for setting a parameter as at least one of values required, when the value of the measured item of the carbonate series in the sample solution is calculated by a colorimeter method, and calculating an optimal solution of a parameter value, by implementing a predetermined numerical calculation using the absorbance; and a third process for calculating the value of the measured item, by substituting the optimal solution of the parameter value for a predetermined mathematical expression.
