PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract an appropriate word as a retrieval keyword from a document described by a language which is not written with a space between words. SOLUTION: An information retrieval support program executes steps of: managing each word in a document by associating grammatical information with each word; recognizing each character string unit of words, clauses and sentences, based on the grammatical information; dividing the document by each character string unit specified by a user and displaying a described part of the character string unit by making it identifiable as a part to be linked; setting character strings included in the part to be linked as the retrieval keyword; setting hyperlink that the retrieval keyword is referred to a predetermined database to the part to be linked; and displaying and outputting reference results returned from the predetermined database, based on the hyperlink, when the hyperlink set a certain part to be linked is instructed by the user in a computer.
