PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter made of a metal containing communication pores having a uniform size and having high mechanical characteristics, and a method for manufacturing the filter of high strength made of the metal capable of certainly manufacturing the filter made of the metal containing the communication pores having the uniform size. SOLUTION: The filter made of the metal is constituted of a sintered body of metal powder and contains the communication pores. This metal sintered body has two maximum values of frequency in a frequency distribution curve based on the number of particle sizes. Further, the method for manufacturing the filter made of the metal has a first process for classifying raw material powder on the basis of a predetermined threshold value of a particle size to set a part of the powder on a small size side as first metal powder while setting the whole of the powder on a large size side as second metal powder, a second process for adding the first metal powder to the second metal powder to prepare third metal powder and a third process for molding and sintering the third metal powder to obtain the filter made of the metal.
