<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying an object with risk of showing symptoms of hypertensive end organ damage like congestive heart failure. <P>SOLUTION: The method for examining an object with complication risk in heart failure includes: (a) obtaining a biological sample from the object, preferably serum or plasma derived from peripheral blood; (b) measuring the level of galectin-3 as a non-myocyte marker in the sample; (c) comparing the level of the marker with the standard level; and (d) determining that an increase in the marker level shows the complication risk in heart failure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
