<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which reduces the number of solid-state light-emitting elements which are not turned on due to a failure, even when a failure occurs in any of the solid-state light-emitting elements, and which is able to maintain the effects of suppressing a power supply harmonic current. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting device 1 is provided with a diode bridge 6 as a full-wave rectifying circuit for full-wave rectifying an ac voltage and a light-emitting section 8, having a plurality of LED elements 11 which are solid-state light-emitting elements which are turned on by the voltage outputted by the diode bridge 6. In the light-emitting device 1, there are provided a plurality of LED series unit circuits 16, in which one or a plurality of LED unit circuits 14 with one or a predetermined number of LED elements 11 connected in series are connected in series with a constant current circuit 18 that is a current limiting element. The number of series connections in the LED unit circuit 14 in the LED series unit circuit 16 is made different one by one, and each of the LED series unit circuits 16 is connected in parallel, in the order of the number of series connections in the LED unit circuit 14.
