PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive device for preventing the user from being involved by an escalator which warns before a shoe or clothes are drawn between a step and a skirt guard. SOLUTION: This device for preventing the user from being drawn by an escalator includes a distance sensor which is fixed to the side surface of an inner deck and measures the distance between itself and a demarcation cleat or a cleat riser on the upper surface of the step, a foreign matter approach detection part for determining that foreign matters are approaching between the step and the skirt guard when the measured distance is changed irregularly, and a reminder part which calls for attention when the foreign matter approach detection part determines to be approaching.
