PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for sticking an adhesive tape, capable of preventing a release tape from being entangled in a drawing chuck. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a feeder 40 for pitch feeding of a release tape 20 detached from an adhesive tape 19 stuck to a TCP by a suction head 18, and a controller 62 for controlling drive of the feeder. The feeder includes a fixed chuck 56 driven for opening and closing and a drawing chuck 58 driven for opening and closing and for vertical movement. In the controller, the release tape is held by the drawing chuck when the fixed chuck is opened while the drawing chuck is in a position higher than the fixed chuck, and the release tape is fed by a distance equal to a pitch interval of the adhesive tape cut by a predetermined length while the drawing chuck is moved downward from the position higher than the fixed chuck to detach the release tape stuck to the fixed chuck.
