PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent diffusion of fine particles to the inside of the apparatus or environment around the apparatus by capturing the fine particles, generated from a rubber layer of a fixing member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a cylindrical heating roller 132; and a heating source for heating the heating roller 132 to predetermined target temperature; wherein the image forming apparatus fixes an image onto a sheet, by bringing the conveyed sheet into pressure-contact with an outer peripheral surface of the heating roller 132. The image forming apparatus includes: a temperature sensor 311 measuring temperature of the heating roller 132; a duct 400 having an inlet 403 for taking in the fine particles generated from the heating roller 132; an exhaust fan 430 provided inside the duct 400 and generating an air flow going from the inlet 403 to an outlet 409 of the duct 400; a first filter member 420 provided upstream of the exhaust fan 430 and capable of capturing the fine particles; and a controller for controlling an amount of the air flow passing through the first filter member 420 according to initial burst conditions under which the fine particles are emitted.
