The present invention relates to formulations of a coating of natural origin for a non-protein nitrogen source (NPN), for producing a gradual- and controlled-release nutritional supplement for ruminants. In particular, the present invention relates to formulations of a gradual- and controlled-release non-protein nitrogen (NPN) source nutritional supplement for ruminants. The present invention also relates to the use of said gradual- and controlled-release nutritional supplement for increasing muscle mass and also milk production in ruminants.
