A vehicle parking assistant includes: a shooting part shooting the vehicle surroundings; a parking target position setter setting a parking target position in the surroundings image taken by the shooting part; a rearward movement starting position calculator calculating the rearward movement starting position based on: a target position set by a position setter, and a vehicle's movable area, the rearward movement starting position denoting the position for stopping the vehicle and starting a rearward movement of the vehicle, to park the vehicle in the target position; a movement calculator sensing the movement direction and the movement amount of the vehicle; an image generator superposing an information image on a surroundings image based on the movement direction and amount which are sensed with the movement calculator. An information image denotes the rearward movement starting position for allowing the vehicle to be parked in the target position. According to the vehicle's movement, the image generator generates, with different displays, the following sub-positions of the rearward movement starting position: a first sub-position allowing the vehicle to move to the target position, and a second sub-position failing to allow the vehicle to be parked in the target position. |
