A method and apparatus for processing a multimedia message are provided in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: when a Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) receives a multimedia message, it sends a push notice message to a Short Messaging Service Center (SMSC), so that the SMSC sends the push notice message to a receiving terminal (101); the MMSC receives the push response message returned by the SMSC, wherein, the push response message carries the sending result of the push notice message (102); the MMSC processes the received multimedia message according to the sending result of the push notice message (103). The apparatus includes a transceiver module and a processing module. The solution of the present invention can effectively solve the problem that a mass of multimedia messages, which can not be obtained by the terminal, occupy the storage resource of the MMSC. |
