<p>Disclosed is a pulse radar device with which size and cost can be readily reduced and which is capable of high precision detection of information about a target object by removing, by means of having a simple structure, the influence of noise produced when the gain of a variable gain amplifier is discontinuously changed in accordance with detection distance. Further disclosed is a method for controlling the pulse radar device. A variable gain amplifier (135) which adjusts gain in accordance with a distance gate is used in order to enable detection of weak reflection waves from a distant target object and to amplify, at a low gain, reflection waves from a short distance. Offset noise from the variable gain amplifier (135) is created in advance as interference noise and self-mixing noise in a connector (105) and also as replica signals of unwanted waves, and the replica signals are removed from the baseband signal when a target object (T) is detected.</p> |
