MOLDED ARTICLE HAVING BARRIER LAYER ON SURFACE AND GASKET COMPRISING SAME

Disclosed is a molded article that comprises a rubber obtained by crosslinking a polymer that includes an aliphatic olefin or an aliphatic diene as a monomer component, wherein the molded article is characterized by having a barrier layer comprising a carbonyl group that is formed by irradiating at least a portion of the surface of the aforementioned molded article with an ultraviolet ray, and in that the amount of the carbonyl group included in said barrier layer is higher than the amount of the carbonyl group included in the center of the aforementioned molded article. As a result, a rubber molded article having excellent dynamic properties and excellent barrier properties, in particular barrier properties against hydrocarbon fuels, as well as minimal impact on the environment is provided. A preferred embodiment is a gasket for sealing hydrocarbon fuels.
