Disclosed is an information processing apparatus, wherein, upon defining an evaluation method of determining the timing for presenting information, an appropriate evaluation rule can be defined without any need for specialized knowledge, and without putting in much effort in setup work thereof. The information processing apparatus is provided with: an evaluation-rule candidate generating unit for generating evaluation rule candidates, which are combinations of a plurality of conditions combined on the basis of a given rule; a materialization-estimate calculation unit for calculating evaluation-rule materialization estimate values that indicate estimates of materialization frequencies for each of the evaluation rule candidates, on the basis of a given sensor availability rate that indicates the availability rate of a sensor within a prescribed period of time; and an evaluation rule selection unit for selecting an evaluation rule from among the evaluation rule candidates, on the basis of the evaluation-rule materialization estimate value and a prescribed notification amount that indicates the desired information notification frequency. |
