The cell (100) has conductive members designed as contact fingers (104, 106, 108) that are arranged on a light incident side upper surface of the cell, such that predetermined information is coded using an arrangement of the conductive members. The conductive members are arranged on the upper surface of the cell in an irregular structure, such that the predetermined information is coded using the irregular structure. The contact fingers are provided with contact finger segments, and a bus bar (116) is arranged between the contact finger segments. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an arrangement for applying predetermined information on a photovoltaic cell, comprising a code-generator (2) a method for determining information from a photovoltaic cell (3) a device for determining information from a photovoltaic cell, comprising positions of conductive members determining unit.
