The method involves sucking a non-adhesive plastic film (12) into an under-side carrier surface (34) of a resilient wire cloth (22). The film is scraped off from the carrier surface by squeegees (24) against a receiving surface (16) of a subject matter (14) i.e. plastic part. The wire cloth is pressed by the squeegees against the receiving surface when the film is scraped, where the squeegees are arranged opposite to the carrier surface, which receives the film. The squeegees perform a linear movement when the film is scraped. An independent claim is also included for a device for applying a non-adhesive plastic film on a subject matter.
