<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive head gimbal assembly using near-field light while securing service life of a semiconductor laser as a light source, and to provide an information recording and playback device. <P>SOLUTION: A pad part 204a is composed of a rigid body section 307 and a spring part 308. The pad part 204a is connected with other sections of a flexure 204 via the spring part 308. A reinforcing part 309 is mounted on the rigid body section 307.
