<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, accurately determining the presence or absence of the abnormality of a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine 1 includes the catalyst 15 provided in an exhaust passage 13 and having an oxygen storage capacity, and purifies exhaust gas through the catalyst 15.
