PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet thickness detection device capable of accurately detecting sheet thicknesses of many kinds of sheets. SOLUTION: When sheet information (size, basic weight and a surface characteristic) stored in paper feeding parts 311 and 312 is set via an operation part 302 or an external host PC by a user, a CPU 411 discriminates whether or not sheet basic weight is larger than 52 g/m<SP>2</SP>(S66). When the sheet basic weight is larger than 52 g/m<SP>2</SP>, the CPU 411 sets a pressure changeover solenoid 905 to an on-state so that the nip pressure of a detection roller 906 and a fixed roller 918 becomes "Strong" (S67). In the case of 52 g/m<SP>2</SP>or smaller, the CPU 411 sets the pressure changeover solenoid 905 to an off-state so that the nip pressure becomes "Weak" (S68). COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
