PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for determining a shape, which are more appropriate, effective and efficient for optimization of shape of a head of a flying object. SOLUTION: The method for determining the shape of the flying object has: an initial shape setting step 10 of setting an initial shape of the head of the flying object by a hemisphere and a cone by a parametric function; a pressure calculation step of calculating pressure with respect to nodes of the hemisphere and the cone; an evaluation function calculation step of integrating pressure at each node of a shape surface by a surface area to calculate drag; an evaluation function acquisition step for a prescribed number of individuals; a next generation shape forming step of performing processes of intersection, copying, and mutation for a shape corresponding to the evaluation function, which is obtained in the evaluation function acquisition step, to form a shape of the next generation; and a shape determining step of determining a proper shape by repeating the pressure calculation, the evaluation function calculation in the evaluation function calculation step, and the like, a predetermined number of times with respect to the shape of the next generation formed in the next generation shape forming step.
