PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump device capable of reducing the quantity of condensed water to be discharged from a drain hole by efficiently discharging the steam, which flows out between a seal member and a bearing, out of a pump housing. SOLUTION: This water pump device for an engine is formed with a space part, into which the steam generated between the seal member and the rotary shaft flows, and is formed with a steam venting hole and a drain hole in the pump housing forming an outer peripheral wall of the space. In the case of dividing the space part into a first space part and a second space part in a virtual plane passing through the center of the rotary shaft, the steam venting hole and the drain hole are respectively formed in a rear half part of each of the first space part and the second space part in the rotating direction of the rotary shaft, and an air lead-in opening is formed in a front haft part of each of the first space part and the second space part in the rotating direction of the rotary shaft.
