PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin detergent composition that is free from stringiness, hardly drips when taken into a hand, is easily spreadable when applied onto the skin and gives a satisfactory cleaning feeling. SOLUTION: The skin detergent composition comprises the following components (A)-(E): (A) 0.25-18 mass% of a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether carboxylic acid or a salt thereof; (B) 2-15 mass% of a carboxy group-bearing anionic surfactant other than the component (A); (C) 0.5-15 mass% of an amphoteric surfactant; (D) 0.1-1.2 mass% of an acrylic acid/alkyl methacrylate copolymer; and (E) water, where the mass ratio of the components (B) and (C) is such that (C)/(B)=0.2-1.5 and the mass ratio of the components (A), (B) and (C) is such that (A)/((B)+(C))=0.1-0.6.
