PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To tremendously increase a distance travelled allowing an auxiliary power to remain effective. SOLUTION: A power-assisted bicycle includes a man power driving system for generating driving force by man power; and an electric power driving system for generating driving force by electric power outputted from a battery 3. The electric power driving system is selected into a regeneration state or a nonregeneration state. The power-assisted bicycle further includes a control circuit 12. In the nonregeneration state, the control circuit causes auxiliary power by the electric power driving system to be applied based on the output of a torque detection section 4 for detecting a pedal effort by man power. In the regeneration state, the control circuit causes electricity generation by the kinetic energy of the power-assisted bicycle, thereby charging the battery 3. In a travel state, the control circuit causes transition to the regeneration state if the torque detection section 4 continues output lower than a threshold value for a predetermined period of time.
