PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel adapter to be sharable by a plurality of operating systems only by generating an address conversion table without changing control data to perform input/output processing in a data processing system wherein the plurality of operating systems operate. SOLUTION: The data processing system includes, with an I/O device, the channel adapter having a channel control register for controlling the channel adapter, wherein the channel driver of each operating system generates input/output processing control data for performing the input/output processing of transfer data and also controls the channel adapter. A virtual channel driver for actually controlling the channel adapter in place of the channel driver of each operating system is arranged in a control program. When the channel driver of each operating system performs access to the channel control register, the control program intercepts the access, and the virtual channel driver actually performs access to the channel control register.
