PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a removable storage device for easily confirming status data. SOLUTION: The removable storage device 100 to be connected to a host apparatus 18a includes: a message data storage part for preserving message data into which the status data is inserted; a control part 14 for acquiring the status data and generating synthetic data which is obtained by inserting the status data into the message data; and a sound generating part 12 for outputting the synthetic data by sound.
