PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission, holding the position of an arm part in the select direction in the shift standby state. SOLUTION: This transmission includes: shift fingers 56, 57 radially projecting outwardly; and a sleeve 54 moved in the axial direction and rotated around the axis by an actuator to move the shift fingers 56, 57 in the select direction and in the shift direction, wherein a shift lug is selectively pressed by the shift fingers 56, 57 and moved in the shift direction. A sleeve 54 is provided with a plurality of projecting parts 59, which are projected from the outer wall and include a select groove 61 extending in the select direction between the projecting parts and shift grooves 62 formed to extend from the select groove 61 in the shift direction, and also provided with a pin 60, which engages with the select groove 61 and the shift grooves 62 to limit the movement of the sleeve 54 in the select direction and in the shift direction. In the shift standby state of transmission, the shift fingers 56, 57 are located in the shift standby position where the pin 60 is dislocated from the select groove and located in the shift groove 62.
