PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintainability of an oil filter for hydraulic fluid for a variable valve train, in an internal combustion engine provided with the variable valve train. SOLUTION: A switching valve for an oil passage to a hydraulic actuator is mounted to an engine body through a casing 81a attachable/detachable to/from the engine body. The casing 81a is formed with an oil passage (oil passage 89 in the casing) which is connected to the switching valve and which is also connected to an oil passage on the side of the engine body through the connection surface of the casing 81a to the engine body.
