<p>The method involves determining distance (D) of shadow edges (8, 8') for angular positions (alpha). Desired geometric data are determined and/or computed from the data for the distance of the shadow edges. Two measuring devices are rotated together around 90 degree or continuously rotated around a rail (3) around an angular range of plus 90 degree or minus 90 degree. The geometric data is used for controlling and regulating a rolling mill, where a longitudinal axis of the rail forms a normal to a measuring plane.</p> |
