An image reading device is disclosed which comprises: conveying means (25) for conveying in a conveying direction a target (1) to be light-irradiated including a transparent portion; a lens assembly (8, 10), positioned on one side of the target (1), for focusing transmission light having passed through the transparent portion of the target (1); a sensor (12) for receiving the transmission light focused by the lens assembly (8, 10); a light guide (22), positioned on the other side of the target (1), extending in a main-scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction; an array light source (21), provided at an end portion of the light guide (22), in which light sources are arranged in an array along the main-scanning direction, for emitting light in the sub-scanning direction into the light guide (22); and a reflective portion (22b), formed at a position where optical axes of the array light source (21) intersect with the light guide (22), for reflecting light emitted from the array light source (21) in the sub-scanning direction to a light irradiated portion where the target (1) is irradiated with light.
