The device has an acceleration sensor arrangement with maximum of three sensor axes located perpendicular to each other. The acceleration sensor arrangement detects pure rotational movement and pure translational movement of a mobile apparatus, where acceleration values are measured along the three sensor axes. The device and associated sensor signal-processing electronics are integrated in a sensor housing. The movements of the mobile apparatus are recognized parallel to one of the three sensor axes. An independent claim is also included for a method for recognition of movement with a sensor arrangement comprising maximum of three sensitive sensor axes.
