742,503. Removing broke in paper-making machines. BOWATERS DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH, Ltd. March 15, 1954 [June 4, 1953], No. 15459/53. Class 96. Broke doctored at 8 from the top roll 1 of a wet press 1, 2 of a paper-making machine is moved by arms 12 across the back 6 of the doctor and falls on to a conveyer 16 which takes it between side walls 17 across the machine and feeds it into a shoot where it is washed down into a pit wherein rotating agitator blades repulp it. The arms 12 are on a rotating roll 11 and are canted backwardly. They may be straight or helical. In modifications, (1) the roll 11 &c. is moved into operative position by fluid pressure acting against spring- supported pistons ; and (2) the arms 12 are on a travelling belt instead of the roll 11, screwjacks being fitted for moving the belt into and from the operative position. The appliances may be used to facilitate starting-up, broke being collected from the wet press instead of from the wire-cloth. |
