The synthetic sonar antenna includes a linear array of sonar sensors. The number of sensors on the reception antenna (101) is minimized by establishing a reduced pitch (d) between the sensors only at the ends of the array, whilst a large pitch (d) prevails in the central region of the array. The synthetic sonar antenna is subject to self-calibration. This is based on inter-recurrent correlation, including estimating the length of displacement parallel to the antenna; the delay between two correlated signals; and a variation of sight induced by the rotation of the antenna with respect to successive recurrent signals corresponding to the same interval distance which is sufficiently small to suppose that parameters remain constant. The number of sensors on the reception antenna (101) is minimized by establishing a reduced pitch (d) between the sensors only at the ends of the array, whilst a large pitch (d) prevails in the central region of the array. The pitch used is determined by the precision of the self-calibration.
|
