A top plate 1 for supporting a flue liner comprises a first plate portion 11 hinged to a second plate portion 13 and a latch 9. The hinge may be in the form of a bolt 15. Each plate portion comprises a flue-engaging edge 3a, 3b shaped to contact a part of an outer circumferential surface of the flue liner and an outer edge 5a, 5b shaped to form part of an outer periphery of the top plate. The first and second plate portions are moveable apart about the hinge, so as to receive the flue liner between the flue-engaging edges. The first and second plate portions are moveable towards each other so that the latch is operable to urge the flue-engaging edges against the surface of the flue liner and so that the outer edges of the first and second plate portions form the outer periphery of the top plate. Preferably, the latch is spring-loaded and is adjustable to accommodate variations in the diameter of the flue liner. In further aspects of the invention, a kit for constructing a top plate and a method for securing a top plate to a tube or conduit, are also provided. |
