The machine (10) has a frame (16) supporting a tool (18) i.e. mandrel, connected to the frame via a connection unit authorizing rotational movement (24) along rotational axis (26) and translational movement (28) along longitudinal direction. A support surface (54) is traversed by the tool during translational movement with support points. A telescopic clamp (68) is translated between a retracted position and a release position in which the clamp is supported against an inner surface of a pipe and flattens the support surface against the inner surface to immobilize the machine in the pipe.
