Provided is a highly functional multi-tier automatic warehouse which has a high capacity and can suppress equipment cost and installation space. In the multi-tier automatic warehouse (10), two pairs of stacking racks (12L1, 12R1; 12L2, 12R2) are arranged in series instead of being parallel to each other, one lift device (16) is disposed between the two pairs of stacking racks, and loading and unloading can be carried out with respect to the two pairs of stacking racks by using the lift device only. This type of multi-tier automatic warehouse that has a tandem structure ensures a similar storage capacity as that of a conventional construction in which two pairs of stacking racks are arranged parallel to one other, and since it is not necessary to extend the multi-tier automatic warehouse (10) upward, the multi-tier automatic warehouse (10) can be applied to buildings having height limitations. In addition, since only the one lift device (16) is sufficient, the multi-tier automatic warehouse (10) comprises fewer devices than conventional constructions, and the multi-tier automatic warehouse can be constructed at less cost. Furthermore, the installation space of the multi-tier automatic warehouse (10) can be reduced. |
