PEOPLE MOVER

A people mover (1), such as an escalator, a travelator or a moving ramp, comprises a conveyor (10) and a handrail on the side of the conveyor (10). The handrail comprises a fixed stationary frame (6) of the handrail, a moving handrail belt (5), and a safety apparatus (2) comprising a movable manual handle (3) via which the people mover (1) can be stopped. The movable manual handle (3) extends in the vertical direction from below to at least the lateral side of the handrail belt (5).
