The disclosed capacitive touch panel can simultaneously detect changes in the stray capacitances of many detection electrodes. Said capacitive touch panel can use the time it takes for the potentials of the detection electrodes to reach a threshold potential in order to detect input to the detection electrodes, even if changes in the stray capacitances are small. The stray capacitance and resistance of each detection electrode form an RC time-constant circuit, and the stray capacitances of the detection electrodes are either charged or discharged at intervals with a fixed time ratio. Slight increases in stray capacitance due to input in which a detection electrode is approached can be detected by detecting an increase in the time it takes for the potential of that detection electrode to reach a threshold potential.
|
