Most of conventional IgA antibody secretion promoters relate to the IgA antibody production in the intestine, and few IgA antibody secretion promoters relating to an IgA secretion promoting activity or an infection preventing activity in organs of the respiratory system such as the oral cavity, the nasal cavity and the respiratory tract are known. Thus, disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition having an IgA secretion promoting activity in the intestine as well as organs of the respiratory system such as the oral cavity and the respiratory tract. Specifically disclosed is an IgA secretion promoter comprising a poppy extract, which has an IgA secretion promoting activity in the intestine and also has an IgA secretion promoting activity in the oral cavity and the respiratory tract. Therefore, when the IgA secretion promoter is ingested, the infection by viruses and bacteria can be prevented and the onset of allergy can also be prevented.
