<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a rear projection display apparatus, capable of effectively attracting observer's interest by using a substantially transparent screen. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes a screen 500 having a display surface 500a and a projector 700 that plots an image by scanning the display surface 500a with light. The screen 500 can select, independently in respective portions of the display surface 500a, a light transmission state in which the light is transmitted and a light diffusion state in which the light is diffused, and is configured so that the portion where address light is radiated becomes to be the light diffusion state and the portion where the address light is not radiated becomes to be the light transmission state. The projector 700 is configured so as to scan the display surface 500a with the address light so that an area of the display surface 500a corresponding to an image displayed on the display surface becomes to be the light diffusion state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
