<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of reducing the power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 1 determines whether or not any print data is included in a received packet when receiving the packet from a host apparatus 15. When the print data is included in the received packet, the communication speed between the host apparatus 15 and a NIC (Network Interface Card) 12 is set to be high, and a print request is executed.
