<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device that includes an organic EL element capable of preventing generation of a leakage current. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes a carrier substrate, partitions for dividing a plurality of organic EL element on the carrier substrate, and the plurality of organic EL elements provided between the partitions. Each of the organic EL elements has a first electrode, a low resistance layer formed by coating, a high resistance layer having an electric resistance higher than that of the low resistance layer, a luminous layer, and a second electrode, which are arranged in this order from a side of the carrier substrate. The low resistance layer is provided at its end with a creeping which extends in a direction along the surface of the partition.
