PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-purity glycerol succinic acid and fatty acid ester. SOLUTION: The method for producing the glycerol succinic acid and fatty acid ester includes dissolving an esterification product of the glycerol with succinic anhydride or succinic acid and a fatty acid in a hydrocarbon-based solvent (e.g. hexane and toluene), cooling the resultant solution, and collecting the precipitated component. In another embodiment, the method for producing the glycerol succinic acid and fatty acid ester includes dissolving an esterification product of the glycerol with the succinic anhydride or the succinic acid and the fatty acid in a mixed solvent of the hydrocarbon-based solvent with a ketone-based solvent or a lower alcohol (e.g. a mixed solvent of the hexane with the acetone, and a mixed solvent of the hexane with ethanol), cooling the resultant solution, and collecting the precipitated component.
