PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for management of media information in an image recorder, capable of managing the media information without printing barcodes or the like, and capable of managing the media information even if other roll paper is removed during recording using the image recorder with a multi-stage roll paper constitution, thereby improving user's convenience. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a sheet information storage tool for storing the sheet type, the sheet width, the sheet thickness, the sheet residue and the outside diameter of a plurality of the roll paper when dismounting a roll paper 12; a comparison tool for comparing the stored sheet width, sheet thickness and outside diameter of the sheet respectively by measuring the sheet width and the sheet thickness using a sheet measuring tool and measuring an outside diameter of roll 18 using an outside diameter measuring tool when mounting the roll paper; and a setting tool for setting the stored sheet type and sheet residue as the sheet type and the sheet residue of the mounted roll paper respectively, when the sheet width, the sheet thickness and the outside diameter of the roll are all matched.
