<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer including a high-frequency ion guide capable of effectively preventing delay and stagnation of ions. <P>SOLUTION: The high-frequency ion guide (20) to transport the ions to a latter stage while converging the ions by high-frequency electric field is constituted of eight pieces of rod electrodes (21-28) arranged so as to surround an ion optical axis (C). Respective rod electrodes (21-28) are deployed to be inclined against the ion optical axis (C) so that the radius r2 of an inscribed circle (29b) at an end face on the ion emitting side is larger than the radius r1 of an inscribed circle (29a) at an end face on the ion incident side. By this, a gradient of pseud-potential size or depth is formed in the travelling direction of the ions in a space surrounded by the rod electrodes (21-28), and the ions are accelerated according to this gradient. For that reason, even when a gas pressure is relatively high and chances are often that the ions are collided with gas, the ions are suppressed from deceleration, and delay and stop of the ions can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
