PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the positional adjustment processing of an image in detecting terminal crimping failure by photographing the image of a terminal attaching part. SOLUTION: The image data of the terminal part of an electric wire 4 with a terminal is photographed by a camera 2 while moving the same with the terminal and the acquired image data is scanned in parallel a plurality of times in the direction traversing the electric wire within a predetermined frame to calculate the center-of-gravity point of brightness at every line to determine a first coordinate axis on the basis of each center-of-gravity point. Further, the whole of the image data is scanned in parallel a plurality of times at every line in the direction traversing the electric wire to integrate the difference of brightness between adjacent pixels to thereby form the change pattern of the integrated value and the change pattern is compared with a reference pattern while moved in the first coordinate axis direction to determine the second coordinate axis crossing the first coordinate axis at a right angle on the basis of the most coincident position. Then, the position of the image data is adjusted on the basis of both coordinate axes to determine the quality of a terminal crimping state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
