PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field communication system having a new configuration for detecting a contact position to a contact surface with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The electric field communication system with a contact position detection function includes: a first electric field communication device; a contact surface (18) allowing a person to contact an optional contact position; and a second electric field communication device performing electric field communication for inducing an electric field on a surface of the person with the first electric field communication device when the person contacts the contact surface (18). The second electric field communication device includes: an electrode (44) arranged along the contact surface (18); an electric field communication circuit (38) performing electric field communication with the second electric field communication device via the electrode (44); and a position detection circuit (50) for detecting reception signals corresponding to signals supplied from the first electric field communication device through the electric field at least at two detection parts of the electrode (44) to detect the contact position of the person on the contact surface (18) based on the intensity values of the plurality of detected reception signals.
