<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bone-reinforced polymer matrix composites for use in orthopedic applications, and a synthesis method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The source of the bone of the bone-reinforced polymer matrix composites may be autogenous, allogenic, xenogenic, or some combination of these; the bone particles obtained from one or more of cortical bone, cancellous bone, cortico-cancellous bone may be demineralized, nondemineralized, or a mixture of both demineralized and nondemineralized bone particles; the synthesis of composites includes steps of providing the bone particles, combining the bone particles with a polymer precursor in the form of a biodegradable or non-biodegradable polymer or copolymer or a copolymer of biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers etc., and polymerizing the polymer precursor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
