<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion having stably dispersed carbon black with a strong cohesion power, a method for producing the same, and also to provide an aqueous ink for inkjet recording, excellent in dispersibility, filtration property and storage stability and giving high print density. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous dispersion contains polymer particles dispersed in water comprising a water-insoluble vinyl polymer containing carbon black. The carbon black has a DBP oil absorption of at least 100 (cm<SP>3</SP>/100 g), and the water-insoluble vinyl polymer has a salt forming group. The method of producing the aqueous dispersion includes the steps of: (A) kneading a mixture containing carbon black having a DBP oil absorption of at least 100 (cm<SP>3</SP>/100 g), a water-insoluble vinyl polymer having a salt forming group, a neutralizing agent for neutralizing the water-insoluble vinyl polymer, an organic solvent and water; (B) adding water and/or an organic solvent to the prepared mixture to disperse; and then (C) filtering the prepared dispersion.
