PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for outputting a label that surely cuts label sheets attached to both sides of a label mount. SOLUTION: The label outputting apparatus includes a supplying unit 21 for supplying the rolled label mount where a plurality of labels are attached to both sides thereof, respectively, to a carrying path R in sequence, detecting units 16-1 and 16-2 for detecting optical transparency of the label mount, a determination unit 31 for discriminating between an area with the label mount alone, an area with one label being attached to the label mount and an area with two labels being attached to the label mount, according to the detection results of the detecting units and for determining a center position of the area with the label mount alone in order not to cut the label(s), and a cutting unit 12 for cutting the label mount on the carrying path at the determined position.
