PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system low in drive voltage and capable of further elongating a service life relative more than that of a conventional light emitting element. SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes, between a first electrode and a second electrode, a layer containing a luminescent substance and a mixed layer where the mixed layer contains an oxide semiconductor or a metal oxide, and a substance having hole mobility≥10-6cm2/Vs. Alternatively, the light emitting device includes, between the first electrode and the second electrode, a layer containing a luminescent substance and a mixed layer where the mixed layer contains a molybdenum oxide, a vanadium oxide, a ruthenium oxide, a tungsten oxide or a molybdenum trioxide, and a substance having hole mobility≥10-6cm2/Vs.
